About Us

Our Story

At Think Polymer Technologies, we’re working at the forefront of the circular economy – commercially viable and environmentally impactful polyvinyl chloride (PVC) recycling and manufacturing.

Leveraging decades of experience as both a manufacturer and recycler of PVC products, we are uniquely positioned to tackle the complex PVC recycling challenges that nobody else can. And we don’t just solve these problems in a lab, we’re solving them in the real world, proving that it works: in a production environment, and at scale.

Our ambition, persistence and “why not” attitude have led us to redefine normal in terms of sustainability benchmarking. We believe innovation in PVC recycling has been constrained by the weight of low expectations, but we think bigger and aim higher than regulated targets. And that pushes us to find ways to achieve more and do better.

But don’t just take our word for it, the numbers speak for themselves. The recycled PVC used in the manufacture of products across our Think Manufacturing brands has grown from 15% in 2021 to an industry leading 90% in 2024.

When developing polymer formulations, the combination of additives must account for the requirements of both the manufacturing process as well as the end product.

Heat stability is particularly important – too much will result in a polymer that will not homogenise, and too little will see the polymer start to degrade during production and gradually lose its properties.

Because heat stabilisation properties are changed by the manufacturing process, reprocessing PVC without accounting for these changes creates a polymer that starts to degrade almost instantly. This has led to a very small appetite for incorporating recycled PVC into Australian manufacturing.

Globally, PVC is one of the most used polymers.

Unfortunately, it’s also one of the least recycled. In addition to other common challenges in recycling such as sourcing clean waste, in Australia alone, there are over 10,000 active formulations of PVC in use across industries such as medical, industrial, agricultural, aerospace, and construction.

This added complexity means many have placed the idea of substantial PVC recycling in the too hard basket.

NOT US!

“Just because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean it can’t be done.”

For us to do differently, we need to think differently, and we do.

Working with leading researchers at CSIRO, we made the improbable a reality and changed the future of PVC recycling and manufacturing forever. You can read more about the technical challenges and the solutions we developed, the products we have created, and some examples of how it’s working in the real world.

While innovation has, and always will be integral to the success of Think Manufacturing, we established Think Polymer Technologies in its own right in 2024; reflecting our continuing focus on cutting edge technologies, and our goal of being the leading authority in the PVC recycling and manufacturing space.

We’re excited to see where the future takes us and can’t wait to bring you along on the journey.

Who We Are

Meet the dedicated leadership team at Think Polymer Technologies

Jack Fitzgerald

Co-Founder & Director, Think Polymer Technologies

Jack Fitzgerald is the Co-Founder and Director of Think Polymer Technologies, a company at the forefront of sustainable polymer innovation. With a strong focus on recycling and advanced material science, he has led the development of proprietary technologies that repurpose difficult-to-recycle plastics into high-performance fencing, decking, and industrial solutions.

Jack has redefined industrial design—what some believe is flipping conventional product development upside down. Instead of designing a product first and selecting materials later, he starts with the problem—the recyclate itself—and engineers a product around the available material. This innovative approach turns waste into value, making sustainable manufacturing not just an ideal, but a practical and scalable reality.

Through collaborations with CSIRO and other leading research institutions, Jack has helped pioneer new methods for transforming waste into durable, high-quality products. His contributions to Australian manufacturing were recognised in 2023 when he was inducted into the Manufacturing Hall of Fame, receiving the prestigious Leader of Manufacturing Award.

Beyond his leadership in sustainable manufacturing, Jack is a regular guest and keynote speaker for various academic and industry groups, sharing his expertise on polymer recycling, circular economy strategies, and the future of sustainable materials.

Under his leadership, Think Polymer Technologies continues to redefine the potential of recycled materials, setting new standards for innovation and sustainability in the industry.

Elise Vella

Junior Mechatronics Engineer

With a genuine passion for engineering and design thinking, Elise caught the attention of Think Group while studying her  Engineering undergraduate degree with a Mechatronics major, and she’s been integral to our success ever since.

Through engaging in research, development and product design at Think Polymer Technologies, Elise demonstrates her commitment to sustainable practices and creating products that positively impact the environment.

Think Group

We started life in 1999 as a fencing manufacturer in Portarlington in Regional Victoria- Think Fencing. Over the years our commitment to innovation has seen us expand into a range of different products and brands.

To support our continued growth, in 2024 we established our parent company Think Group, along with Think Polymer Technologies and Think Manufacturing – home to our leading brands and well known range of products.

Customer satisfaction, environmental sustainability, innovation and integrity are core values across the Think Group and are a key driver to our success.
